for counselors and recommenders to meet your requests.

Home Advisor Skilled Labor Shortage Scholarship


Eligible students are planning to attend a community college, technical institute, or university during the 2019-2020 academic year to study anything from construction management, plumbing or carpentry to landscape architecture or interior design. John Wright Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be high school seniors entering college or community college, or returning college students seeking a first bachelor's degree or associate's degree while attending an accredited US college or university. All applicants must plan to enter the commercial arboriculture industry. Special consideration will be given for honorably discharged veterans and present members of the United States Armed Forces, Reserves and National Guard.

Odenza Vacations College Scholarship

To be considered eligible for the Odenza Vacations College Scholarship you must:
1) Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on September 1st, 2019.

The Insurance Professionals of Roanoke

Amount: Three $1,000 Scholarships

Who: Seniors who 1) have a financial need 2) are planning to pursue a career in business or a related field, 3) are planning to attend post-high school education in the fall of 2019, and 4) have a minimum 3.0 GPA

How: Each student must write a letter of application. It is essential that this letter be a minimum of one page in length and in the body of this letter reference be made to each of the qualifications mentioned above. The student should specify the business related major and the particular University they are planning to attend. An endorsement from you or another school professional is necessary via a letter of recommendation.

Proof of grade point average is requested via official transcript- please request this using the transcript request form. The application, along with recommendation and transcripts should be emailed to or sent to the following address:

VBA Bank Day

Amount: Six honorable mention $1,000 scholarships, six $2,500 regional scholarships, and regional winners are entered to win statewide $5000 scholarships.

Who: Seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA

How: 1) Email Mrs. Ford at with the subject line: VBA Bank Day. Please indicate that you are interested in the Bank Day Scholarship Program.

2) Attend Bank Day on March 19, 2019.

3)Write your essay and forward it to the appropriate address by April 12, 2019.

Bank of Botetourt “Taking Care of You” Scholarship

Amount: $500
Who: Seniors who bank, or whose families bank, through Bank of Botetourt
How: Write an essay using the following topic/guidelines:

Essay Topic: “How has Bank of Botetourt been able to take care of your banking and financial needs?” Essay should be limited to 2 pages, 1.5 spacing at 12-point font, and margins at 1-inch.

  • Include a title page (separate page within the Word document containing your essay, not a separate document) with the following information:

    • Name

    • E-mail address

    • Phone number

    • School’s name

    • Date submitted

    • Brief statement about your college plans

    • Title of essay

  • Please do not include your name or any personal information on any page other than the title page.

  • Please include proof of enrollment in your school and GPA verification. A letter from your guidance counselor stating your GPA is sufficient as opposed to a full transcript is acceptable.

  • Bank of Botetourt employees and their immediate family members are not eligible for the scholarship.

Blue Ridge Teachers of Mathematics Scholarship

Amount: $500 each year for four years (renewable!)

Who: Seniors interested in a career teaching Mathematics who will attend a four-year institution in Fall 2019. Must have minimum 3.0 GPA and a 2.8 in Math courses.

How: Visit to complete the online application. Please be sure to read all instructions carefully. SAT Scores, a Transcript, and a letter of recommendation are required.

Katie Higgins Virginia Smiles Scholarship (Students with Cleft Lip/ Cleft Palate)

Who: Seniors born with Cleft Lip/ Cleft Palate registered to attend an accredited college/university/trade program in Fall 2019

Knights of Columbus Scholarships (3):

Council- Albert H. Canfield Scholarship

Amount: TBD

Who: Seniors who are members of Council 562 of the Roanoke Knights of Columbus, the legally recognized child of a member provided that the member is in good standing, or if deceased, was in good standing at the time of death. Applications will be considered based on past academic performance, financial need, and a demonstrated dedication to service in the community and/or church.

What & How: Visit to access the application. Completed applications must be accompanied by a copy of the applicant’s most recent transcript (transcript does not have to be an official copy).
