Chance

Create your own dance using chance!  Merce Cunningham was an American modern dancer and choreographer who developed new forms of abstract dance.  Cunningham developed “choreography by chance,” a technique in which selected isolated movements are assigned sequence by random methods like tossing a coin or rolling a die.  In this assignment you will allow your choreography to be taken over by chance.  It is ok if your dance does not come out the way you dreamed of, it’s all about chance!

Step 1:  Build the dice.

Step 2: Give each number an action or pose:

                  For example 1=jump….if I roll a 1 I have to do a jump.

Step 4:  Let the even numbers be still and let the odd numbers move.

Step 6:  Counts:  each number on your die will represent the amount of counts.

Now it is time to roll out your dance.  You will have to roll your dice 6times for each step.
