Healthy Tips for Staying Germ-Free

  1. Use universal precautions: Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing happy birthday to yourself – that’s about 20 seconds!) or use an alcohol-based hand rub; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your bent elbow when you cough or sneeze; regularly sanitize surfaces.
  2. Per RCPS school policy:  Keep your child at home if they have active GI symptoms (vomiting and/or diarrhea), have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher.
  3. Students need to be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school after an illness. 
  4. See your doctor if you think you have  the flu or any type of symptoms related to the flu or cold.
